Who we are
Our business is a unique and important one. Our niche is our customization ability of die-striking a logo on top of the whistle. The end result? Professional quality safety tools that become cherished keepsakes for a lifetime.
As the only manufacturer of metal whistles in the United States, we proudly stand head and shoulders above all competitors. Our company was founded in 1956 as Colsoff Manufacturing and was purchased by another owner in 1987. In January of 2018, the company was purchased by the current owners. With a drive and interest to develop new products and push innovation, the new owners are setting up to develop new products that compliment the Classic Brass whistle.
Our staff consists of dedicated individuals who strive every day to put their best into the creation of solid brass whistles made to last a lifetime. We always remember that our whistles are safety tools and that a person's life may depend on the attention-getting blast of an American Whistle.
Who Uses Whistles
People from all walks of life appreciate the need for a good safety whistle. Our customers run the gamut from professional sports referees to hunting and camping enthusiasts. We manufacture the official Boy Scouts of America whistles. We sell safety whistles to many colleges and universities who in turn hand them out to new students on campus each fall.
Hundreds of police departments around the country turn to us for whistles to equip each and every officer but also to supply them with custom-imprinted safety whistles that they distribute at their community policing events and for participants of crime prevention programs. Many corporations and companies distribute whistles to employees and customers to promote safety. They also use our custom imprint ability to create whistles as advertising specialty items, reaping an impressive PR benefit for the life of the whistle. Whistles from American Whistle commonly hang on key rings and lanyards for as long as 15-20 years since they literally never wear out.
Since American Whistle Corporation is the only manufacturer of metal whistles in the United States it goes without saying that our plant is a unique, one-of-a-kind facility. Our processes begin with coiled brass, 30-ton presses, state-of-the-art soldering tables, and continue on through polishing, specialized plating processes and FINALLY - putting the ball INSIDE the whistle.
Thousands of people tour our factory each and every year and enjoy seeing how whistles are made. It is truly a unique blend of hands-on and high-tech procedures aligned in concert to deliver over a million whistles a year into the hands of customers like you.
