American Whistle Corporation is the only manufacturer of solid brass whistles in the United States. Every whistle is drawn, stamped, tuned, plated, and packaged start-to-finish at our factory in Columbus, Ohio — making it a domestic end product for agencies and contractors purchasing under the Buy American Act. What is the Buy American Act?
The Buy American Act (BAA, enacted 1933) directs U.S. federal agencies to give preference to domestically produced goods in direct government purchases. To qualify as a domestic end product, an item must be (1) manufactured in the United States, and (2) made of components that are predominantly domestic in cost. Under the 2022 BAA final rule (FAR 25.101), the domestic-content threshold rose to 60% (2022), increases to 65% (2024), and reaches 75% (2029).
